Index Poetry

Time to write.  Time to mess around.  Here is a list of words taken from the index of a book called “Selling the Scream” written by a man who loves to create.  Your task is to arrange these words into a poem.  You can add up to five words, but no more!  Enjoy.

  1. Aha!

    You got
    Giant, crazy,
    Screaming,
    Fresh nuts
    In the basement.

    Balance
    Will help tweak,
    Bump and
    Blend juggling.

    What’s your
    Fresh breaking
    Dream?

  2. What’s crazy?
    Juggling balance?
    Giant tweak of “got nuts?”
    Aha! Fresh bump:
    You screaming “help”
    in a breaking dream basement?

  3. Forgot: title of poem is Un-Blend-ed

    Got what’s fresh!
    Aha!
    Basement juggling!
    >bump!<

  5. Help!
    Got screaming basement crazy.
    Balance breaking crazy.
    Juggling nuts crazy.
    What’s help?
    What’s nuts?
    You bump, you break.
    You dream, you blend,
    Aha…
    Fresh balance.
    You tweak, you dream,
    Giant Aha!
    Got crazy fresh balance!

    Fresh bump:

    Got Nuts

Breaking balance can help you blend fresh nuts.
What’s crazy is you bump around the basement, juggling, screaming.
    Aha!
    Tweak your Giant Dream!

  8. “What’s got you crazy, screaming, nuts , basement (dwelling)?”

“Fresh Breaking (news), (need ) giant help juggling (words)!”

Blend, bump, tweak, balance, (and) dream.”

    “Aha!”

  9. Hey, what a variety of thoughts we’ve contrived from this daunting list of words!

Kind of fun in a twisted, roundabout way, right?

What I enjoy is that at first this type of word task seems impossible and with a bit of determination, it falls together into something quite unique and even delightful at times.

That “Ann girl” has lots of tricks up her sleeves, doesn’t she. Ya gotta love her a lot.

This is the most fun I’ve had in ages! I was giggling madly trying to put these words together. What a fun exercise.

      Thanks, Ann!

  10. What’s breaking (in) ( the) basement?
    Giant nuts juggling (for) balance.
    Blend fresh
    Bump crazy
    Help tweak (them)
Aha, you got (a) screaming dream

  11. Balance?

    Nuts!
    What’s in the basement?
    Giant crazy–screaming, breaking.
    You gotta juggle,
    Tweak,
to help bump dreams of “aha!”
    Blend—breaking—the fresh.

What fun to read all these! I found the limitation helped me learn the power of punctuation to replace words and suggest meaning. How interesting that all your postings suggested more about you and your thinking. Thanks!

More are welcome if you can see new combinations.

  12. Barbara Burris

    What’s got you?
    Fresh basement nuts?
    Crazy screaming.
    Each giant bump breaking pumpkins.
    Aha!
    Tweak your balance.
Help blend that juggling dream end.

  13. Barbara Burris

OOPs! The last line got kinda messed up! Disregard the last word, please. 🙂

  14. What’s got you juggling fresh giant nuts (in the) basement?

Blend (with) Crazy Dream – screaming, “Help!”

    Bump!

    Aha – Balance.
